Unable to open .xls files with Microsoft Office Excel 2010

You may receive the following message after installing Microsoft Office 2010:

"The file is corrupt cannot be opened."

This problem can be solved by changing the file association. See the procedure below:

1. Right-click the file.
2. Click Open With.
3. Select MS Excel from the list.
4. Click to select ‘Always use the selected program’.
