Proposal to construct Chirah Dam in Islamabad

May 20, 2016: According to the information made available to the National Assembly as part of the question & answer session, a proposal to construct Chirah Dam is under consideration by the Government in Islamabad. The project has to be executed by Government of Punjab through Small Dams Organization Islamabad and WASA, Rawalpindi. Cost of the Project has to be shared by CDA and Government of Punjab on 50:50 % basis, while CDA’s share has to be met out of PSDP. The capacity of DAM is 15 MGD and has to be shared by Islamabadand Rawalpindi on 50:50 % basis. The project was approved by ECNEC on 30-03-2009 with PC-1 cost amounting to Rs. 5307.220 (Million) and completion period was four (04) years. Later on, a revised PC-1 amounting to Rs. 17824.475 (Million) was submitted by Small Dam Organization, Islamabad to PSDP consultant M/s NESPAK for review and clearance. After review and clearance, consultant M/s NESPAK forwarded it to Government of Punjab for consideration. The work shall finally be taken in hand by Government of Punjab after approval of revised PC-1 and fulfillment of codal formalities.
