HEC - Short Term Foreign Faculty Hiring Program (SFHP)

According to the official website of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan (as of April-2016), the "Short Term Foreign Faculty Hiring Program (SFHP) was launched in November 2003 to attract foreign nationals as well as expatriate Pakistani scientists and engineers in academia and professional organizations to come to Pakistan on short-term assignments (at least for One Semester) at public sector universities and degree awarding institutions (DAIs). The focus was to make out for the critical shortage of qualified faculty in public institutions of higher learning to produce finest engineers, scientists across a broad range of disciplines. It was also hoped that such interaction between Pakistani universities and their foreign counterparts will open avenues for future research collaboration and faculty exchanges. Hiring is made in all disciplines under the SFHP.

Elibility Criteria:

1. Applicant must hold PhD degree in the relevant field from HEC recognized universities/ institutes.
2. Applicant must commit to come for at least one semester (i.e. 3 to 4 ½ months) which will be extendable to another semester only upon the consent of HEC and host institution.
3. In special cases duration can be reduce with approval from chairman of selection committee.
4. Applications will be facilitated in all discipline; from any nationality except from Indian or Israel nationality.
5. Applicant while at the time of applying to this program must hold job / teaching position in foreign institution / university / organization and having at least two year post-doctorate foreign experience.
6. Applicant must have good academic and publication record.
7. Applicant hired under this program is expected to have excellent verbal and written English language skills.
8. Special waiver of PhD Degree to the applicants belonging to clinical medical sciences (who hold terminal degree of MRCP, FRCS (UK) or Diplomat American Board) and also to the Professionals of Fine Arts, Architecture, Law & Theatre and Arts disciplines with the condition that the perceptive candidates must have served as a faculty member in a recognized Foreign University or worked at reputable organization at least for three (03) years.
