LUMS - SarSubz reaches out at CARE Forum

According to a notification, issued by the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), in preparation for the Spring 2013 SarSubz Semester, two members of the SarSubz Committee, SBASSE Faculty Nauman Zaffar and Jennifer Mitchell, Babar Ali Fellow, attended the Collective Action to Restore Environment (CARE) Forum, hosted by Green Living Association and Amnesty International. The event was an inter-campus collaboration that brought together representatives from select Lahore universities such as Kinnaird College, Beaconhouse National University (BNU), University of Lahore (UOL), and University of Engineering and Technology Lahore.

Each university discussed the steps their campus was taking to promote environmental consciousness. LUMS shared success stories from the SarSubz LUMS Initiative, such as financial savings through energy conservation, Bike Share Programme, Adopt-a-Tree Programme, research projects like climate change research, and the STARS campus sustainability assessment project. Other schools put forth their own efforts, such as BNU’s eco-internship program and green architecture initiative. UOL presented student activities at their campus, such as painting walls and flower pots green to raise awareness.
